How long do custom blinds take? Realistic timelines for the GTA

October 1, 2026

The most common question we get after price is time. Here is the honest timeline for custom window coverings in the GTA, step by step, with the places where you can speed it up.

The consultation is the fastest part. Call or book online, and we usually have a slot within a few days, including evenings and Saturdays. The visit itself takes 45 minutes to an hour for a typical house. We bring samples, measure every window, and you get a written quote on the spot or by the next business day.

Approval is up to you. Some people say yes at the kitchen table, some take a week to think. Nothing starts until you approve, so the clock is yours here.

Production is the part that takes real time. Roller, zebra, cellular, roman, faux wood and wood blinds are custom made in 10 to 15 business days after approval. That is two to three weeks. California shutters are built to a tighter tolerance and take four to six weeks. Custom drapery depends on the fabric, typically three to five weeks. Motorized units do not add time, the motor ships with the shade.

Installation is one visit. A single window takes about 20 minutes. A whole house of 12 to 18 windows is two to four hours, including programming every motor and remote. We book it as soon as the order lands in our shop.

So from first call to finished windows, a typical blind or shade order is three to four weeks, and shutters are six to eight. The fastest we can realistically do a whole house of shades is just under three weeks if you approve the quote on the day we measure.

If you need something faster, there are two honest options. The first is to prioritize. We can order the bedrooms and the street-facing windows first and the rest a week later, so you have privacy where it counts while the rest is in production. The second is to order online. If you have your own measurements, you can configure and pay on our site and the production timeline is the same, but you skip the consultation and approval steps entirely.

What slows things down: changing fabrics after approval, which restarts production on that window, and unusual shapes like arches and angles, which add a week. We tell you at the consultation if any of your windows fall into that category.

If you have a move-in date, tell us when you book. We plan the measure and the install around it.
